Our kitchen isn’t perfect, but it’s pretty great. There’s a ton of cabinets, a huge island with a prep sink and gas stove, and stainless steel appliances throughout. The kitchen also features a door to a deck which we had connected to our Vivint security system.
When we first saw the kitchen, the most glaring issue was its blinding yellow wall color. Once we fix that, we’ll feel more at home.
None of the appliances are “smart” but we’re not in a hurry to replace them since we haven’t been impressed with any on the market. However, there are some updates we’ll want to make to connect our kitchen to our system.
First, we’ll add a camera to keep tabs on our cat, Bodhi, when he eats or drinks.
Next, we’ll swap out the wall switches with smart switches; there’s a ton so it will be quite the project.
There’s also a huge window that looks directly into our next door neighbor’s house that we’ll want to cover with smart blinds.
Finally, developing an inventory system and integrating it with our connected software will help us better plan out our meals and shopping trips.
